Follow the Bouncing Roy Choi! The iconic street food chef has gone from the Beverly Hilton to his landmark Kogi Korean BBQ Truck to a funky mini-mall rice bowl joint called Chego! and now back to the street with the ESPN Match Truck – a truckvertisement rolling through New York and Los Angeles to promote ESPN and the World Cup.
Giant TV sets with huge LCD screens will allow for street observers and diners to watch the matches while waiting for food of the 32 participating nations. But so far, only a few have seemingly popped up on the menu, like the Roy Choi designed takes on the huevos rancheros of Mexico, the lamb gyro of Greece, the yaki nadoo dumplings of South Korea and Bunny Chow from host nation South Africa, which won’t be made of rabbit (it’s chicken curry in a hollowed out bun). As for the U.S., Kogi ketchup can be found on the sliders and Coca-Cola products will be served. Go to www.espnwctrucks.com and, of course, Twitter (LA, NYC) for more information.
