Today marks the much anticipated (and much delayed) opening of the John Dory Oyster Bar inside the Ace Hotel. As expected, the decor is a mix of kitsch and class, with large plastic fish and seafood-classification posters on the walls, detailed tile flooring, copper tabletops and seashell light fixtures. The new Colors Café is located in the Puck Building.
Worker-owned restaurant Colors has just opened a cafe spin-off. The unusual part? It’s housed in NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service on the second floor of the Puck Building. Fortunately, you don’t have to drop thousands in tuition for a taste of its breakfast, lunch and snack fare, as it’s open to visitors as well as students and faculty (295 Lafayette St.).

The already weird landscape of creative cupcakes just a got a little weirder.
