It came as no surprise yesterday when Ian Schrager officially announced his departure from The Gramercy Park Hotel, his first hotel after leaving his previous hotel company, Morgans Hotel Group, to create his own hotel company, Schrager Hotels. He is now working on not one, but two new hotel brands.

Back in November, we learned that Hyatt Hotels and Hersha Hospitality were teaming up to build a new Hyatt in Union Square in NYC at 13th Street and 4th Avenue. And while we still don’t know what Hyatt brand will go in here, we do know that this is what the hotel is going to look like.

Skating in NYC is a classic holiday experience, but Wollman Rink in Central Park and the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink can get mighty crowded. If only there was a spot downtown where you could strap on your skates and channel Johnny Weir. Oh, wait! As of tomorrow, there will be–at the W New York Downtown.
