We already knew that hottie “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi was a former supermodel who was once married to controversial author Salman Rushdie but we had no idea that she was dabbling in the jewelry design business. Yet lo and behold, The Padma Collection is now for sale at our fave NYC hotel, The Surrey. Apparently, it’s Padma’s fave NYC hotel too.
The Fall/Winter 2010 jewelry collection was inspired by her international travels and will be on sale in the Surrey’s centerpiece armoire in the lobby through March 2011. …

Now that the Rose Bar at Gramercy Park has shuttered their secret, invite-only music sessions, The Plaza is at the ready to fill in the gap on the elite NYC music scene with their new Artist in Residence series in the hotel’s famed Oak Room. (Perhaps they were inspired by Lady Gaga’s impromptu performance?)

Our Christmas hopes were dashed when we found out that Aloft Harlem wouldn’t be open in time for the holiday, but that it would debut December 27. Call us Grinches, but there have been so many delays that we decided to check if the hotel’s opening would be postponed yet again.
With a week left to go, the hotel is still sticking to its December 27 opening date. Since it’s still too late for Christmas, maybe it’s a Kwanzaa miracle?

The Standard NYC is known for its nekkid guests (and even employees) flaunting their business in front of the wall of windows. So imagine our surprise to hear that people are heading to the hotel all bundled up.
They are actually coming out to hit the brand-spankin’-new ice rink, which sits at Washington and 13th streets.
